Audience Appoints Eliott Nommensen as Lead Product Designer

San Marcos, CA, July 10, 2018Audience, a company dedicated to designing and manufacturing ultimate-performance audio/video equipment, today announced it has appointed Eliott Nommensen as Lead Product Designer. Nommensen will be a key contributor in creating new products for Audience and exploring opportunities to expand into new product categories for the company.

Eliott Nommensen has extensive experience in the high-end audio industry. He first became involved in audio in 1979 working at Absolute Audio, one of California’s premier high-end audio dealers. In 1994 he designed his first audio product, and subsequently produced the industry’s first digital stylus force gauge for phono cartridges. Before joining Audience he was head of product development at Synergistic Research.

“I am extremely excited to become part of the Audience family,” Nommensen said. “My design philosophy has always been one of ‘less is more,’ to most accurately preserve the musical content and faithfully render the artist’s and recording engineer’s intent and emotion.”

Nommensen has spent the last 17 years designing audio cables, powerline conditioners, isolation devices, room treatment products and other audio accessories, many of which can be found in ultimate-performance audio systems and top recording studios worldwide.

Audience Introduces Its Hidden Treasure
High-Performance In-Wall AC Power Cable

San Marcos, CA, June 26, 2018Audience today announced the introduction of of its Hidden Treasure in-wall power cable, designed to provide the highest level of AC power delivery in custom-installation audio, home theater, multiroom, architectural and other in-wall applications.

Audience’s Hidden Treasure connects from a home’s circuit breaker box to the user’s audio or home theater system. It is UL CL2-approved for use in 120-volt and 220-volt AC in-wall applications. Hidden Treasure is engineered for maximum signal conductivity, durability and shielding from electrical interference.

“Our new Hidden Treasure power cable is an all-out effort to provide a truly high-performance AC power wire for in-wall systems,” said John McDonald, president of Audience. “It’s the result of extensive testing and evaluation and what we’ve learned from our team’s more than 20 years of combined experience in designing our world-renowned AC powerChords.”

Hidden Treasure features three 10 AWG stranded 99.9999 percent pure oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors. The wire is cryogenically treated to relieve stresses that can be imparted to the wire during manufacturing and to re-align the microstructure in the copper for improved conductivity. The conductors are foil-shielded to provide rejection from external electrical noise. The dielectric (insulation) is made from XLPE cross-linked polyethylene insulation with a PVC sleeve for unmatched durability.

Hidden Treasure is flexible and easy to install and has a diameter of approximately 0.75 inches (18 mm).

Audience Introduces Its Next-Generation powerChord Models:
The New Au24SX, Au24SE-i and SE-i AC Power Chord

San Marcos, CA, March 13, 2017 Audience announced the introduction of its Au24 SX powerChord, Au24 SE-i power Chord and powerChord SE-i, three ultimate-quality AC power cords that incorporate the company’s latest materials and engineering advancements to enable extraordinary levels of sonic improvement in high-performance audio systems.

The all-new top of the line Au24 SX powerChord represents the culmination of 20 years of Audience’s experience in high-end power cord design. It is created to be nothing less than the ultimate AC power cord. Audience president John McDonald and the late Audience engineer Roger Sheker spent a full year developing and testing various configurations of this wire until determining its final configuration.

 

The Au24 SX utilizes newly designed internal wire made from 6-nines-pure OCC copper. Two 13 AWG wires per leg are used in the 10 AWG Au24 SX powerChord. In a departure from previous Audience designs, the Au24SX features shielded construction. “Historically Audience found that shielding power cords resulted in restricted dynamics,” said John McDonald, president of Audience. “However, in the new Au24 SX we obtained the best sonic result by using a shielded design but shielding the ground leg only.”

Each of the power cord’s two ground wires is separately shielded and hand-wrapped with Teflon. The Au24 SX is insulated with the highest-quality XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) dielectric material available. The Au24 SX is terminated with the Furutech Pure Transmission Fi-50M NCF Piezo Ceramic AC connector, chosen for its sonic superiority and exceptional build quality.

“With the Au24 SX in an audio system, the sound it facilitates is remarkably dynamic and musically compelling, with unparalleled harmonic resolution and rhythmic integrity,” noted McDonald. “The improvement the Au24 SX can make in a high-performance audio system is not subtle – in fact, it’s on the same level as what one of our Adept Response power conditioners can provide.”

The Au24 SE-I powerChord is an evolution of the award-winning Au 24 and Au24 SE powerChords. It has been upgraded with Audience’s all-new, proprietary power cord connectors, which provide a more refined and smoother musical presentation. All previous Audience Au24 SE and Au24 powerChords can be upgraded to the latest Au24 SE-i version.

Audience’s new powerChord SE-i is an improved version of the time-proven standard powerChord. Its six-conductor geometry has been reconfigured, resulting in a much more spacious sonic presentation with greater solidity of vocals and instruments on a wider and deeper soundstage.

All three new powerChords are designed to eliminate or reduce the traditional weak points of conventional power cords: more often than not, power cords will behave in a reactive manner and introduce capacitance, inductance and resistance into the electron flow, which will compromise the interface between the component and the power source. The Au24 SX, Au24 SE-i and SE-I feature a high-current, low impedance, wide bandwidth design for fast response, accurate reproduction of macro and micro dynamics, articulate bass, superior imaging, exceptional harmonic integrity, lower background noise and additional sonic benefits.

The new Audience Au24 SX powerChord, Au24 SE-i powerChord and powerChord SE-i AC power cords are currently available. The 6-foot Au24 SX 10 AWG powerChord carries a suggested retail price of $4,600, +/- $180 per foot. If purchased as an option with any Audience Adept Response power conditioner (in place of the standard powerChord SE-i usually supplied), the optional upgrade price is $4,200.

The Au24 SX MP 13 AWG medium-power version powerChord (for use in audio components that require up to 150 watts of power) is available at $3,500 suggested retail for a 6-foot power cord, +/- $150 per foot.

A 6-foot Au24 SE-i powerChord has a suggested retail price of $2,560, +/- $150 per foot. The powerChord SE-I is available at $915 suggested retail for a 6-foot length, +/- $30 per foot.

All previous Audience powerChords can be upgraded to any of the latest versions.

San Marcos, CA, January 26, 2016Audience announced the introduction of its new top of the line Au24 SX interconnects, loudspeaker, phono and digital cables designed to achieve extraordinary audio performance and musical accuracy to complement the finest audio systems.

Au24 SX substantially exceeds the performance of Audience’s long-standing and acclaimed Au24 cable lines by the use of improved XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) dielectric material, higher-purity “six nines” copper, and by improvements to the cable geometry. The Au24 SX loudspeaker cables are of a heavier gauge than previous Au24 lines.

In comparison to the previous versions, the new SX cables are more relaxed yet more dynamic sonically and have a richer tonal palette. The RCA connectors are a new proprietary solder free design. The XLR interconnect is an entirely new true dedicated differential cable designed from the ground up solely for use in balanced circuits.

Audience Au24 SX cables, like all previous Au24 cables are low mass and low eddy current resistance designs using minimal jacketing materials. They retain music’s natural timing and timbre.

Audience Announces New “OX” Upgrades
for its Adept Response Power Conditioners

 

San Marcos, CA, September 14, 2015Audience today announced the availability of its new “O and X” upgrades for its Adept Response AC power conditioners. The optional upgrades are available on all Audience Adept Response standard and TS series power conditioners.

 

The “O” part of the upgrade designates the use of OHNO oxygen-free continuous cast copper (OCC), 6 nines purity mono-crystal wiring throughout. This is Audience’s top of the line AC power wire design specifically applied for the internal wiring of Audience power conditioners. It yields improved resolution, greater musical “speed” and immediacy and better soundstaging.

The “X” designation indicates the use of new rhodium plated copper internal contacts in the AC outlets. The copper contacts provide the very highest conductivity and the quality rhodium plating prevents oxidation of the copper. These high conductivity receptacles improve virtually every aspect of a system’s audio reproduction.

Further, all new Audience power conditioners now have gold plated copper forks to connect the power conditioners’ filter capacitors to the AC duplex outlets. This construction replaces the previous tin plating-over-copper forks. The new forks provide a noticeably more refined musical presentation.
