Audience Appoints Phil DuCote as Audio Engineer

San Marcos, CA, July 30, 2020 Audience  today announced it has appointed Phil DuCote as its new audio engineer. DuCote will be involved in the engineering of all Audience products including speakers, cables, power conditioners and accessories.

Phil DuCote has been a loudspeaker designer for Audience over the past two years. He has an extensive background in a variety of engineering disciplines including CAD (computer aided design), testing, quality control, digital electronics, acoustics, CIM (computer-integrated manufacturing) and other areas.

“I’m excited to become more involved in the development of new Audience products, as well as looking at possible refinements to existing Audience designs,” said DuCote. “We have some extremely interesting ideas in the works and I look forward to taking a greater part in helping to make them happen.” 

Prior to joining Audience, DuCote held positions at Hickory Audio Lab, Furlow-Philbeck Consulting Engineers, Three Phase Audio, The Central Louisiana Electric Company and Brute Force Audio. In addition to his manufacturing expertise DuCote has been an educator at Buford High School, the Atlanta, GA Department of Technical and Adult Education, Gwinnett Technical Institute and Southern Technical College. He was an officer in the U.S. Air Force and has PhD and Master’s degrees from the University of Georgia and a BA from the University of Louisiana.

Audience Introduces Its Hidden Treasure SATA Data Cable, for Upgraded Performance in Music Servers and Computer Audio Devices

San Marcos, CA, January 22, 2020 – Audience is now shipping its Hidden Treasure SATA Data Cable. The new SATA (Serial AT Attachment) cable is designed as an upgrade for internal connections of music server/computer storage devices, solid-state and disk drives and other hardware.

The new Hidden Treasure SATA cable provides better data transfer by reducing jitter and RF contamination, resulting in a lower noise floor and notably improved sound quality in audio components such as computer-based music systems. It can be easily installed as a DIY upgrade.

“More audiophiles are turning to music servers and other data storage, drive-based devices for their music listening, and these devices require a SATA cable for connecting the drive to the rest of the internal electronics,” noted John McDonald, president of Audience. “As a cable manufacturer it was a logical area for us to look into. Transmission of data including digital audio signals through a SATA cable happens at a much higher speed than via a USB connection and as a result, is more susceptible to jitter and internal system noise. The Audience Hidden Treasure SATA cable employs newly developed proprietary design techniques intended to block noise and ensure optimum signal condition and data integrity. By removing layers of sonic “grunge,” the audible result is greater low-level detail and a smoother, more inviting sonic presentation.

Although the retrofit of a component’s stock SATA cable with a Hidden Treasure SATA cable is a simple un-plug and re-plug function, Audience recommends that the upgrade be performed by a qualified technician. Audience also recommends consideration of the manufacturer’s warranty that could potentially be voided when modifying a particular music player. Audience Is Now Shipping Its New adeptResponse T4 and T3 Upgraded Power Conditioners 

San Marcos, CA, October 7, 2019 – Audience today announced the availability of its new adeptResponse T4 and T3 AC power conditioners, upgraded from the company’s previous TSSOX and TSOX models. Available in 2, 6, and 12-outlet versions, the T4 and T3 now feature the company’s newly refined Aura-TR Teflon filter capacitors, which replace the previous Aura-TO version. These capacitors, designed by Audience to be the ultimate premium capacitors, have been improved to provide even greater clarity and dynamic range than those previously used.

In addition, the T4 adeptResponse power conditioners incorporate Audience’s Hidden Treasure duplex AC outlets, which feature high-purity copper-core, rhodium-plated contacts that provide a tight grip for the most secure connection available. The Hidden Treasure outlets are treated cryogenically and by a proprietary UHVP (ultra-high voltage process) and incorporate RF blocking crystals that prevent unwanted RF noise from entering the AC pathway. The sonic results of these enhancements are improved detail, dynamics, imaging and spatial reproduction. “We feel the Hidden Treasure wall outlets are the finest AC receptacles on the market, bar none,” McDonald noted.

Also, for a more efficient transfer of electrical energy, the T4 power conditioners are further treated with Audience’s UHVP throughout the entire electrical circuit. The UHVP treatment applies upwards of one million volts, in specific pulse combinations, frequencies and amplitudes to align the crystalline structure of the entire conductive path.

The entire circuit is also cryogenically treated.

“In designing the T4 and T3 we found that each of the three upgrades separately provided a notably enhanced performance and a more involving musical presentation to a significant degree,” said John McDonald, president of Audience. “In the T4 models, the implementation of all three upgrades achieved a synergy that was remarkably better than what we’d ever heard before.”

The T4 adeptResponse power conditioners also incorporate Audience’s S filter section, comprised of a large-core balun transformer. The S filter circuitry provides additional filtering over a broader frequency spectrum down into the critical 20-30 kHz range, to lower the noise floor even further and enable more low-level musical information to be revealed. The T4 models utilize Audience Au24 SX powerChord 6-nines purity OCC mono-crystal wiring throughout.

The T4 and T3 power conditioners include previous refinements such as state-of-the-art noise filtering, isolation and surge protection welded rather than mechanically fastened connections; gold-plated copper forks that connect the power conditioners’ filter capacitors to the AC duplex outlets; magnetic circuit breaker power switches; carefully engineered internal grounding, and more.

The Audience T4 and T3 adeptResponse power conditioners are currently available at prices starting at $1,850 (aR2p-T3) up to $11,400 (aR12-T4).

The Hidden Treasure AC wall receptacles and the Audience UHVP Ultra-High Voltage Process can also be retrofitted and added to previous Audience adeptResponse power conditioners.

San Marcos, CA, February 28, 2019 – Audience has added two new products to its Hidden Treasure AC in-wall power solutions lineup with the introduction of its Hidden Treasure High Definition AC Wall Receptacle and Hidden Treasure High Definition AC Circuit Breaker. Both employ Audience’s proprietary MORRE (Musically Optimized Reduction of Resistive Energies) technologies to deliver cleaner, more phase-correct AC power and yield better sound and performance from audio/video components.

 

 

The new products join Audience’s Hidden Treasure HDAC in-wall power cable to provide a complete, ultimate-quality in-wall power-delivery solution for high-end audio, custom-installation, home theater, multiroom and other in-wall applications.

The Hidden Treasure High Definition AC (HDAC) Wall Receptacle features high-purity copper-core, rhodium-plated contacts that provide a tight grip and the most secure connection available. The duplex receptacle is rated for up to 20 amps and can accommodate up to 10 AWG wiring. The receptacle’s body is made from rugged thermoplastic nylon.

 

The receptacle is treated with Audience’s EHVP Extreme High-Voltage Process, which is a MORRE technology aspect that applies high voltages in specific combinations. This proprietary technique aligns the crystalline structure of the various metals used in the receptacle to create more efficient “pathways” for signals to travel through the materials.

 

“Our new Hidden Treasure wall receptacle can improve the detail, dynamics, imaging and spatial reproduction of a high-performance audio system,” said John McDonald, president of Audience. “Audience has extremely demanding performance standards that must be met before we introduce any new product, and we’re particularly pleased about the sonic benefits of our new wall receptacle.”

Audience’s Hidden Treasure HDAC Circuit Breaker adds proprietary MORRE treatments to a customer-supplied circuit breaker. “There are many brands and models of circuit breakers on the market, but our process now makes it practical and feasible to upgrade virtually any of them, simply by having customers send in their particular units,” noted McDonald. This also ensures compatibility with a customer’s existing electrical panel and system.

At the factory the circuit breakers go through the EHVP treatment. In addition, nanoparticle damping materials are selectively applied to reduce mechanical resonances, along with EMI and RF electrical interference. The circuit breakers are not disassembled in any way during the processes. “Once a customer gets their unit back from us, it’s transformed into a Hidden Treasure HDAC Circuit Breaker, which is designed to reduce noise and interference and provide greater sonic clarity,” McDonald noted. Hidden Treasure circuit breakers maintain all the compliance and safety specifications of the original unit.

When used together, the Audience Hidden Treasure wall receptacle, circuit breaker and in-wall power cable deliver the highest possible in-wall solution for high-end systems, offering clean power that is phase-correct while blocking EMF and RF interference.

Audience’s MORRE technologies are the result of more than 22 years of experience in cable design. Every aspect of frontRow cables has been considered and refined, including cable geometries, metallurgy, connectors, shielding, dielectric and jacketing materials and the interaction between conductors – even details like the mechanical resonant frequencies of the materials used.

MORRE provides a dramatic lowering of the noise floor and distortion artifacts. The sonic result is improved low-level resolution and wider dynamic contrasts, and a remarkably lifelike musical presentation with more realistic “3-D” imaging and soundstaging.

To ensure maximum signal integrity, frontRow cables utilize conductive material made from modified 99.9999% Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) copper, 99.9999% pure silver or high-purity silver-plated copper using the optimum material for each frontRow cable model. The cables use XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) dielectric material, chosen for its superior insulating properties and low microphonics, as well as Teflon and other materials. Depending on the model and application, MORRE can use

Careful attention is paid to connector design and construction. San Marcos, CA, June 26, 2018 – Audience today announced the introduction of its Hidden Treasure in-wall power cable, designed to provide the highest level of AC power delivery in custom-installation audio, home theater, multiroom, architectural and other in-wall applications.

Audienceís Hidden Treasure connects from a homeís circuit breaker box to the userís audio or home theater system. It is UL CL2-approved for use in 120-volt and 220-volt AC in-wall applications. Hidden Treasure is engineered for maximum signal conductivity, durability and shielding from electrical interference.

Hidden Treasure features three 10 AWG stranded 99.9999 percent pure oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors. The wire is cryogenically treated to relieve stresses that can be imparted to the wire during manufacturing and to re-align the microstructure in the copper for improved conductivity. The conductors are foil-shielded to provide rejection from external electrical noise. The dielectric (insulation) is made from XLPE cross-linked polyethylene insulation with a PVC sleeve for unmatched durability.

Hidden Treasure is flexible and easy to install and has a diameter of approximately 0.75 inches (18 mm).

San Marcos, CA, March 13, 2017 Audience announced the introduction of its Au24 SX powerChord, Au24 SE-i power Chord and powerChord SE-i, three ultimate-quality AC power cords that incorporate the company’s latest materials and engineering advancements to enable extraordinary levels of sonic improvement in high-performance audio systems.

The all-new top of the line Au24 SX powerChord represents the culmination of 20 years of Audience’s experience in high-end power cord design. It is created to be nothing less than the ultimate AC power cord. Audience president John McDonald and the late Audience engineer Roger Sheker spent a full year developing and testing various configurations of this wire until determining its final configuration.

 

The Au24 SX utilizes newly designed internal wire made from 6-nines-pure OCC copper. Two 13 AWG wires per leg are used in the 10 AWG Au24 SX powerChord. In a departure from previous Audience designs, the Au24SX features shielded construction. “Historically Audience found that shielding power cords resulted in restricted dynamics,” said John McDonald, president of Audience. “However, in the new Au24 SX we obtained the best sonic result by using a shielded design but shielding the ground leg only.”

Each of the power cord’s two ground wires is separately shielded and hand-wrapped with Teflon. The Au24 SX is insulated with the highest-quality XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) dielectric material available. The Au24 SX is terminated with the Furutech Pure Transmission Fi-50M NCF Piezo Ceramic AC connector, chosen for its sonic superiority and exceptional build quality.

The Au24 SE-I powerChord is an evolution of the award-winning Au 24 and Au24 SE powerChords. It has been upgraded with Audience’s all-new, proprietary power cord connectors, which provide a more refined and smoother musical presentation. All previous Audience Au24 SE and Au24 powerChords can be upgraded to the latest Au24 SE-i version.

Audience’s new powerChord SE-i is an improved version of the time-proven standard powerChord. Its six-conductor geometry has been reconfigured, resulting in a much more spacious sonic presentation with greater solidity of vocals and instruments on a wider and deeper soundstage.

All three new powerChords are designed to eliminate or reduce the traditional weak points of conventional power cords: more often than not, power cords will behave in a reactive manner and introduce capacitance, inductance and resistance into the electron flow, which will compromise the interface between the component and the power source. The Au24 SX, Au24 SE-i and SE-I feature a high-current, low impedance, wide bandwidth design for fast response, accurate reproduction of macro and micro dynamics, articulate bass, superior imaging, exceptional harmonic integrity, lower background noise and additional sonic benefits.

The new Audience Au24 SX powerChord, Au24 SE-i powerChord and powerChord SE-i AC power cords are currently available. The 6-foot Au24 SX 10 AWG powerChord carries a suggested retail price of $4,600, +/- $180 per foot. If purchased as an option with any Audience Adept Response power conditioner (in place of the standard powerChord SE-i usually supplied), the optional upgrade price is $4,200.

The Au24 SX MP 13 AWG medium-power version powerChord (for use in audio components that require up to 150 watts of power) is available at $3,500 suggested retail for a 6-foot power cord, +/- $150 per foot.

A 6-foot Au24 SE-i powerChord has a suggested retail price of $2,560, +/- $150 per foot. The powerChord SE-I is available at $915 suggested retail for a 6-foot length, +/- $30 per foot.

All previous Audience powerChords can be upgraded to any of the latest versions.

Audience Introduces Its New Top of the Line Au24 SX Interconnects, Loudspeaker, Phono and Digital Cables

San Marcos, CA, January 26, 2016Audience announced the introduction of its new top of the line Au24 SX interconnects, loudspeaker, phono and digital cables designed to achieve extraordinary audio performance and musical accuracy to complement the finest audio systems.

Au24 SX substantially exceeds the performance of Audience’s long-standing and acclaimed Au24 cable lines by the use of improved XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) dielectric material, higher-purity “six nines” copper, and by improvements to the cable geometry. The Au24 SX loudspeaker cables are of a heavier gauge than previous Au24 lines.

In comparison to the previous versions, the new SX cables are more relaxed yet more dynamic sonically and have a richer tonal palette. The RCA connectors are a new proprietary solder free design. The XLR interconnect is an entirely new true dedicated differential cable designed from the ground up solely for use in balanced circuits.

Audience Au24 SX cables, like all previous Au24 cables are low mass and low eddy current resistance designs using minimal jacketing materials. They retain music’s natural timing and timbre.
